Protect yourself this autumn and winter
We are pleased to let our patients know that flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are now available at the practice for eligible patients.
Vaccination is one of the best ways to help protect yourself and those around you from serious illness caused by flu and COVID-19.
If you are eligible, please book your vaccination appointment as soon as possible.
Flu vaccination
The annual flu vaccine is offered free on the NHS to people who are at increased risk of becoming seriously unwell from flu.
For the 2026/27 flu programme, eligible groups include:
- People aged 65 and over
- People aged 18 to under 65 with certain long-term health conditions
- Pregnant women
- People living in a care home
- Carers receiving Carer’s Allowance or those who are the main carer for an older or disabled person
- Close contacts of people who are immunocompromised
- Eligible frontline social care workers who do not have access to an employer-led vaccination programme
- Eligible children, including children aged 2 or 3 on 31 August 2026 and children in clinical risk groups
The NHS flu vaccination programme for most adults starts from 1 October 2026. Pregnant women and eligible children can be vaccinated from 1 September 2026.

Please be aware that we do not vaccinate children for Flu and Covid-19 at Stokes Medical Group.
COVID-19 vaccination
The autumn 2026 COVID-19 vaccination programme is focused on people at higher risk of serious illness from COVID-19.
In England, the autumn 2026 programme includes:
- Adults aged 75 and over
- People living in care homes for older adults
- People aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed
If you are eligible, you will be offered a COVID-19 vaccination at your flu appointment.
Can I have my flu and COVID-19 vaccines together?
The NHS advises that the flu vaccine can be given at the same time as other vaccines, including the COVID-19 vaccine.

Appointments are subject to availability.
Please do not attend your vaccination appointment if you are acutely unwell or have a high temperature. Contact the practice if you are unsure whether you should attend.
Why vaccination matters
Flu and COVID-19 can cause serious illness, particularly in older people, pregnant women and people with certain health conditions.
Getting vaccinated can help reduce your risk of serious illness and hospitalisation and helps protect those who may be more vulnerable.
