Contact us online using Anima
We are now using a system called Anima. Anima allows you to give a full and detailed history so that we can make sure we respond appropriately. You can also use Anima to request nurse appointments or to direct a query to one of our teams.
For new medical conditions, Anima asks you a range of questions to help us assess your needs. Please give as full and accurate a history as possible. If information is missing, we may need to ask you to resubmit the enquiry.
ALL requests for GP appointments will be added via Anima. You can also use Anima to ask questions to specific teams and request nurse appts.
Please log these requests yourselves via our website wherever possible and note, we cannot create requests at reception. If you absolutely cannot get on-line, please phone us so a request can be logged but note that this will likely mean that your request takes longer to add.
Anima is available to make new requests between 7.00am and 4.30pm and we respond during working hours Monday to Friday
If you prefer to phone, one of our receptionists will take details about your problem or request and then pass these to the GP. However you choose to get in touch, your GP will get contact you quickly and either sort out your problem on the phone, by secure message, or arrange to see you the same day, or another day if that’s more convenient.
Please note you can no longer book a GP appointment using our previous online appointment system.
When we are closed
The care out of surgery hours for this practice is provided by Brisdoc. This applies when the medical centre is closed i.e. from 6.30pm and overnight till 8.00am and all weekend until 8.00am on Monday. There are Emergency Primary Care Centres based at Southmead Hospital. These are for consultations by appointment only, (please don’t attend without one)
Home Visits are also carried out where clinically appropriate. You will be informed which centre to attend if the doctor thinks you need to be seen.
If you need medical help when the surgery is closed, please call 111. NHS 111 is a telephone advice line and signposting service for patients with urgent health problems, but which do not need a call to 999. After assessment by a 111 health advisor, if you need immediate medical care they can arrange for you to talk to a clinical advisor, see a Doctor, or go to an appropriate alternative health care service.
We count on you to regard this service as an emergency only service and if someone near you has problems travelling to the centre please help with transport. Please help us to help you by calling the out of hours service only if your medical problem cannot wait until the next surgery.
Extended hours appointments
We offer ‘extended hours’ pre-booked appointments with a range of clinicians between 7:30am to 8am.
GPs and our Pharmacists will have extended hours telephone calls and appointments from 6:30pm to 8pm on a number of evenings.
Please note that Reception is not providing services during these extended hours.
From Apr 25, the 7:30am to 8am face to face appointments are largely at the Stoke Gifford and Conygre Road sites.
The 6:30pm to 8pm weekday face to face appointments will be largely at Bradley Stoke.
Stoke Gifford and Conygre GPs will also be making evening phone calls.
We continue to review these allocations so please ask reception for details.
Home visits
If possible please try to telephone reception before 10am if you require a home visit and our on-call doctor will call you back. House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability. In practice this applies to a very small proportion of people. In particular, children who are ill can usually be brought to the medical centre without fear of making them worse.
Unless very urgent, home visits will usually take place between 12pm and 2pm. If the problem is very urgent please indicate this to the receptionist.
